Cătălin Barb Law Office

Law Office

About the firm

An independent office built on a simple conviction: the client should work with the lawyer who actually thinks through the case, not with an intermediary.

I practised for twelve years in Bucharest business law firms: six years with Mușat & Asociații and six years with Gide Loyrette Nouel, later Leroy și Asociații, in the real estate, construction, energy and public procurement teams. In March 2018 I founded my own office, to deliver the same standards in a more direct, more flexible and more cost-efficient format.

I practise both advisory work and litigation, and the two perspectives reinforce each other: the contracts I draft anticipate how evidence and interpretation will play out in court, while the disputes I run draw on the economic logic of the underlying transaction.

I work in English, French and Romanian and understand Italian. Foreign clients receive documents and explanations directly in their language, with no intermediate links.

Academic activity

I teach at the University of Bucharest Faculty of Law, in Constitutional Law, Political Institutions and Constitutional Litigation, and publish in constitutional law and fundamental rights.

Working principles

Independence
The advice you receive serves your interests alone, never the outcome most convenient for anyone else.
Confidentiality
Professional privilege covers everything you entrust to me, from the first conversation, even if we do not work together afterwards.
Honesty
I also tell you what you do not want to hear: real odds, real risks, real costs.
Rigour
Every document leaves this office checked as if it were about to be read by the most demanding judge.

The office is registered with the Bucharest Bar and operates under Law no. 51/1995 and the Statute of the lawyers' profession, with professional liability insurance. This website constitutes professional publicity made in compliance with art. 244 et seq. of the Statute.

Describe your situation. I will come back with a first assessment.

The first discussion clarifies the legal framing, the possible steps and the estimated costs. Confidentiality is protected by legal professional privilege (art. 11 of Law no. 51/1995), whether or not we end up working together.
